The soprano Sonia Theodoridou was born in Veria. She has studied the Greek National Conservatory “Manolis Kalomiris” in Mrs. Papalexopoulou class where she was graduated with distinction as well as an “Excellent and Distinguished Performance” award. She was awarded the “Maria Kallas” scholarship and she used this to study in the Musical Academy in Cologne and later in London with Vera Rosza. Sonia Theodoridou has appeared in the most important lyric theaters of Europe: Frankfurt Oper, Berlin Staatsoper unten den Linden, Deutsche Opera Berlin, Staatsoper Hamburg, National Theater Muenich, Stuttgart, Theatre Royal de la Monnaie-Bruxelles, Theatre Chatelet de Paris, Teatro Communale di Firenze, Theatre Basel, Opera de Lyon, Opera de Montpellier, Festspiele Schwetzingen, Maifestspiele Wiesbaden, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Athens Concert Hall, Herodus Atticus Theater, etc.As a soloist she has performed numerous concerts and song recitals in Cologne (Koelner Philharmonie), Budapest (Franz Liszt Academy), Italy (Reggio Emilia), Lisbon (Colosseum), Tokyo, Frankfurt (Alte Oper) and has collaborated with famous conductors like: Wolfgang Sawallisch, Zubin Mehta, Antonio Pappano, Rene Jacobs, Christoph von Dohnanyi, Gerd Albrecht, Garry Bertini, Ivan Fischer, Marcello Viotti, Frans Bruggen with the Orchestra of the Age of the Enlightenment and others.Her classical repertoire includes some of the most important opera roles as: Fiordiligi (Cosi fan tutte), Elvira (Don Giovanni), Pamina (Zauberfloete), Alcina (Alcina), Violetta (La Traviata), Gilda (Il Rigoletto), Angelica (Suor Angelica), Mimi (La Boheme), Euridice (Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice), Salud (La vida breve), Fiorilla (Il Turco in Italia), Corinna (Il viaggio a Reims), Giulietta (I Capuletti e i Montecchi), Maria Stuarda (Maria Stuarda), Cleopatra (Giulio Cesare), Jenny (Mahagonny), etc. She has recently appeared in Hungarian State Opera in Verdi’s “Requiem” while some of her future engagements will take place in: Teatro La Fenice di Venezia as Salud, Megaron the Athens Concert Hall as Medora, Gasteig Philharmonie Muenchen in Boito’s “Mefistofele” etc.She has released three CDs “La Calisto” (Harmonia Mundi), “Sonia Theodoridou encounters Manos Hadjidakis” (Seirios) and “Recital” (Seirios).

In October,2006,EROS MUSIC,one of the big Rec Labels in Greece,released the latest album of Sonia Theodoridou,"STORIE D'AMOR",composed by the Songwriter Charalampos Persidis.
